Several days ago, I had a debate with a friend over why some men decide to play female characters in games like WoW and other MMORPG’s. As a card carrying member of the “guys who play a female character in WoW” club, my conclusion was simple; the majority of males who choose to play a female character would rather look at a girl running around on screen for hours on end, instead of stare at some beefy guy while we kill internet dragons.
Our debate eventually shifted away from WoW to other favorite games. It became obvious pretty quick that there are a lot of guys out there who like playing as a female character – which would explain why so many games feature hot chicks as the leading role. After all, what would the world of video games be like without scantily clad heroines saving us all from the end of the world, beating each other up, and frolicking around on sandy beaches for no apparent reason?
